Oprah refers to dog as daughter |

In a world of disposable reality shows, gimmicks are an important tool to securing new viewers. This year, on "Survivor" a tribe was allowed to dwindle to one remaining member before a merge. The latest season of "The Bachelor" ditched romantic dates with so-called gentlemen for beer and bowling with a C-list actor. Talk shows, perhaps, invented the tactic of the shocking gimmick. But, until now, Oprah had not given in to the sleaze of publicity stunts. This changed when she started airing promos this week promising to reveal her "deep, dark family secret" with boyfriend, Stedman Graham on Monday's show. "Stedman and I have a daughter," says the mogul in her ad. "She has issues, and I think it's my fault." Many speculated that Oprah was referring to a child she had as a teen, others thought she and Graham had a baby by a surrogate mother. Gossip site Gawker, however, reveals that Oprah is instead referring to her black cocker spaniel, Sophie, whom she calls her daughter. The teasers were all a hoax, preparing for an episode with an expert dog trainer. If you ask me, Oprah's cocker isn't the only bitch in her home.
