Lil' Kim sued |
According to the lawsuit, Jeffries and Hart were promised $15,000 each for their work, but Kim never made good on the agreement. The suit alleges that compensation was eventually offered in December 2002 in the form of jewelry valued at $10,000. But court documents claim that not even seven months later, Kim demanded that the pair return the jewels "under a threat of physical violence." The suit also charges that the duo were commissioned to provide vocals for the song "Tha Beehive" reports MTVnews
"We filed this lawsuit reluctantly after it became clear that Lil' Kim believes that the music laws do not apply to her," their lawyer, Kenneth Sussmane, told Reuters.
The lawsuit also claims Jeffries and Hart were hired at $400 per show and made more than 30 appearances at Lil' Kim concerts but were only paid for one. It further charges their images were used without their written consent in videos and DVDs.
Lil' Kim was convicted in March of conspiracy and perjury for lying to a grand jury investigating two of her friends involved in a 2001 shootout with hip-hop rivals outside a Manhattan radio station. The 30-year-old performer is due to be sentenced next month.
