In 1993, Tom Waits won a $2.5 million suit against Frito-Lay for a Doritos ad that used an imitation of his voice. Now he's back to the charge against the car manufacturer Opel, claiming they use a Tom Waits impersonator in one of their ads. The company, however, says that the tune used is none other than the Lullaby by Johannes Brahms but with English words, that they had considered using not Waits but Steven Tyler and instead wound up using a Frankfurt-based singer. Could it be that after his Dorito victory, Waits has a chip on his shoulder? (By Scott Rose)
