It seems like if you want to sell your books, you could do worse than to become pope. Advanced orders for the new Harry Potter book had kept it in the #1 spot but then along came popey and his scribblings have skyrocketed on international best-seller lists. Good books provoke thought; there's no telling what a bunch of books that repeat stuff and nonsense about a virgin and the evil of birth control provokes in those who paid to read them, but in a rational, thinking being they might well provoke revulsion.
