Google' Gmail expands
Google, Inc. has announced that it's Gmail service celebrating its first year today, will now offer 2GB of email storage (not a joke). The upgrade comes one year after Mountain View-based Google introduced the service, prompting rivals Yahoo and Microsoft to boost the capacity of their own free Web mail services. Internet Giant Yahoo recently announced plans to match Google's 1GB email box. Not to be outdone Google has raised the bar yet again leaving Yahoo in the dust. "Our goal is to make sure storage is no longer an issue for Web mail users," said Marissa Mayer, Google's director of consumer Web products.

"Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn't mean you should have to worry about it," Google says on the Gmail website. "To celebrate our one-year birthday, we're giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people's lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs."
