Chris Rock was chosen to host this year's Oscars because the powers that be thought he would attract a greater portion of the youth demographic, and yet the number of young males watching the show this year actually declined. Who can blame them for not watching? They knew in advance that their comedian was going to have his edge sawed off with nothing replacing it. Chris Rock has his good place as a foul-mouthed comedian with fangs who then turns around to give an innocent "who me?" expression. But his particular talents aren't what's called for at the Oscars.
