Pop star Michael Jackson arrived five minutes late to court on Monday -- trembling and barely able to walk as testimony resumed in his child molestation trial. It was the second time this month that Jackson has been late for his sex abuse trial in the central California town of Santa Maria reports Reuters. After arriving, Jackson left the court room for about 20 accompanied by a doctor, while Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville met in his chambers with prosecutors, defense attorneys and the doctor. Jackson returned to his seat accompanied by his parents, brother Jackie. Jurors were ushered into court and the trial resumed with no mention of the 45-minute delay or the defendant's apparent discomfort.
Outside court, defense lawyer Brian Oxman refused to answer questions from the media about Jackson's ailment, saying he would issue a statement only at his client's direction. Earlier this month Oxman told reporters that Jackson suffered a back injury.
Jackson is charged with sexually abusing a 13-year-old boy at his Neverland Valley Ranch in February or March of 2003 and plying the youth with alcohol in order to molest him. He is also accused of conspiring to commit child abduction, extortion and false imprisonment.
