Cultural Bling

Today's New York Times carries an article on the trend among museum gift shops to carry high-end jewelry with some relation to the art on display. The American Museum of Natural History, for example, is selling a $125,000 bracelet in conjunction with an exhibition of American Indian jewelry. The Heard Museum of Pheonix sold an opal and jade necklace and matching earrings for $34,000. The Metropolitan Museum of Art unloaded an amethyst choker with a biblike spray of amethyst drops for $60,000; the title of the Times article is "Let's Hit the Gift Shop, and Drop $60,000. The Bosh is all for it. (By Scott Rose)
