Condosleeza Rots tried to make a political point by attending a Palm Sunday service at Gangwashi Protestant Church in China. The country is officially atheist and there are limits on what may be said in those churches which are permitted.

Condosleeza said that when China's leaders "look around them in Asia, they will see that freedom works. They will see that freedom of religion and respect for human rights are part of the foundation of decent and successful societies."

Well, Condosleeza, if there's anything worse than denying people freedom of religion, it's using religion to deny them their freedom. The arguments made against gay rights in the US are most often made on religious grounds and are supported by religious extremists, who have never heard one word of reprimand nor even of disapproval from you.

Furthermore, Condosleeza in the Chinese church sang "There's a peace in my heart that the world never gave." Fine language from a US government officer who knowingly used lies about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq to justify the start of a war. (By Scott Rose)
