Aidan Quinn Signs On With The God Squad

Actor Aidan Quinn is slated to play the lead in "Book of Daniel," a series about an Episcopal minister who finds himself regularly talking to Jesus. The New York Times reports that the contemporary Jesus figure will help Mr. Quinn's character navigate problems in his ministry, his family and himself. It's sort of like Tinkerbell flying around Peter Pan, except that instead of being light entertainment for children, it will encourage narrow-minded, anti-intellectual adults to stay that way. People should be respected for their private beliefs, but they should keep them private. There's already more than enough "Because Jesus said so, that's why!" in our national discourse, this ridiculous new show is not going to help matters any. (By Scott Rose)
