Frank Gehry's new concert hall in Los Angeles, praised by everyone who's used the inside, is annoying some on the outside; it seems that its shimmering facade of stainless steel throws glare into motorists' eyes, and causes temperatures on nearby sidewalks to rise as high as 138 degrees. A grey mesh fabric has already been placed over one section, and the LA County Board of Supervisors is deciding whether to sandblast the entire surface.
